SERVING UP GRATITUDE v2.0 – TEACHERS
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with One+One Dallas and others to Serve Up Gratitude to those community treasures…our teachers.
In case you aren’t familiar, Serving Up Gratitude, an initiative of The Thanks-Giving Foundation, with a big assist from our partners, has been providing nourishment to our hometown healthcare and frontline heroes as a thank you for their courageous fight against COVID-19. Now, with your support, we will do the same for our teachers! What a debt we owe the people charged with education our young people! These heroes have adapted to uncertainty and change with such grace and determination.
We will be purchasing individually packaged meals from local restaurants to deliver to our community’s teachers, and we hope that our initiative, in addition to thanking these heroes, will provide a small measure of much needed support for the beleaguered restaurant industry. We will initially focus on Dallas ISD schools in the southern sector, but if we get the community response we expect, we will hope to serve all Dallas ISD schools and more!
To feed a teacher
We welcome funding from foundations, corporations and individuals, and have estimated that we will need to raise approximately $225,000 to feed over 10,000 Dallas ISD teachers, and another 5,000 plus on-site supporting staff. Donations can be made through our online form or via check (see info on DONATE page).
To volunteer
To help us serve our mission, we are accepting applications for volunteers. Your time and energy will go toward spreading the word about our cause and ensuring we are able to meet our goal of feeding the teachers. Those that are able and comfortable may help with certain logistics and deliveries (masks and social distancing required). Applications can be submitted through our online form on the Volunteer page.
To nominate a participating restaurant
If you would like to suggest a restaurant for our program, please complete the online form on the Restaurant page. We will do our best to accommodate as many requests as possible as the program expands.
