Serving Up Gratitude-- Helpers

These are challenging times, and we may find it difficult to focus on being thankful amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, but we are reminded of the advice offered to a young “Mr Rogers” by his mother.  Fred Rogers often told this story about when he was a boy and would see scary things on the news: “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”

The current day “helpers” are many…the healthcare workers, first responders and caregivers might get the list started, but of course there are many others.  These front line workers are literally in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy virus, often without the optimal protective gear, in an effort to bring comfort and save lives.  So many of us are “doing our part” by staying out of the way, maintaining social distance and sheltering in place.  For those that protect and care for us, their reality is vastly different.  Their days are filled with long hours of danger and uncertainty as they navigate this uncharted territory.  What a heroic mission for these brave professionals!

If you are on the front lines or know someone who is, please provide the appropriate contact information below.  While we are unable to promise to provide meals to everyone nominated, we will do our best to show as much gratitude to these heroes as our time and resources allow!
