Serving Up Gratitude-- Teachers

These are challenging times, and we may find it difficult to focus on being thankful amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, but we are reminded of the advice offered to a young “Mr Rogers” by his mother.  Fred Rogers often told this story about when he was a boy and would see scary things on the news: “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”

We trust our teachers with what most of us would agree is among the most important responsibilities any of us can imagine!  This COVID-19 pandemic has made this difficult job even harder by separating the instructors and the students.  Teachers have had to find new methods and navigate technology challenges while still aiming for excellence.

As previously mentioned, we are focusing on Dallas ISD schools in this first phase, and we hope you, your family, congregation or other group might choose to sponsor meals for a school.  A donation of $750 will cover the cost of meals for an elementary school; a donation of $1500 will cover the cost of meals for a middle school; and a donation of $2250 will cover the cost of meals for a high school.  We invite you to choose a school to sponsor from the attached list.
